No.16 Volleyball Fall to Undefeated No.1 Cowley

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's volleyball team fell to the No.1 Cowley College Tigers Oct. 24 at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. The Tigers haven't lost a match since they got knocked out of the 2022 NJCAA DII Volleyball Championship for 5th place on Nov. 19, 2022. That makes it 68 straight wins and 705 days since their last loss.

The Blue Devils fell to the Tigers in three sets with scores of 23-25, 14-25, and 21-25. In the first set, the Blue Devils led late with a score of 22-19 but fell short. Mercedez Brown led the team with nine kills from her 27 total attempts and managed to record seven digs. Tatianna Murray and Glodalys Colon combined for 12 kills from their 42 total attempts. Veronica Rolando was responsible for 15 of the 27 assists and was the only Blue Devil to record double digit digs (10). Nykeriah Allen, Geme Ajewku and Murray combined for seven block assists.

The next matches for the Blue Devil volleyball team are against Richard Bland and North Iowa Area at 5 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Oct. 25 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
